TERRAZZO

The Venetian terrazzo floor traces its origin to ancient Greece and Rome but owes its fame to 15th-century Venice, where this distinctive version of the mosaic floor became highly popular. Inspired by these features Calligaris took to replicate the iconic texture and created its TERRAZZO rug, in which the warm beige base is enriched by varied assortments of “tiles” of different sizes and colours. The startling effect of chromatic disorder turns the rug into the home’s distinctive element.

TERRAZZO is machine-made and both the fleece and structure are made of synthetic fibres (polyester and polypropylene) but worked with a special ultra-resistant process that yields a “hand-made” effect.
